Mandy:

Cris from NY here, the mzungu volunteer from last August!I am so enjoying all your posts and blogs and reliving my Mzuzu experience through you. Your initial observations are very similar to mine.

Some differences are:

1. I was only there for 3 weeks, with no "job", just to do what felt right, which ended up being crafts and teaching yoga.

2. I didn't have a driver, and spent a huge amount of time waiting around the house for A. to get back and take me to Kwithu. I called it "Africa" time. But yoga has taught me patience. So I was not nearly as busy as you are.

3. I was not too fond of the Zoo, but I am quite a bit older and greatfully sober now.

I adore Isaac and Beckham. And Daisy, she's the one I wanted to bring home. Stella was pregnant with Faith at the time. Do send her my best please, as well as all the women.

Tell Isaac I am working on all the soccer donations. He's got big feet and may get my husbands shoes.

Vitu is great kid, too. Tell him I am still making signs for the NYC Marathon etc. and doing my graphic work.

I will write from time to time, and please feel free to ask me anything you want, though you sound well assimilated already.

WOW. Proud is an overused word but I will use it still. I am very proud of you. Words are one thing but putting them into action is quite another. Best of luck, I am watching your dreams come true. The good thing about it all is that they are OUR dreams.
